Meet Galapagos Tip Top Diving Team

Jorge A. Mahauad

PADI Course DirectorJorge A. Mahauad, PADI Course Director – Jorge has a dive resume that you could read on for hours and will bore you to tears. He could buy a house with the amount he has invested in his dive training and you will rarely find someone with more knowledge or experience as a result.

He is passionate about exploration and if you talk to him for more than five minutes, you can’t help but feel the buzz yourself. In 2011 he became a PADI Course Director, the last remaining frontier (or so his wife hopes, but she knows it’s not).

If you want to learn it, he can teach it, from your Open Water Course to your PADI Instructor, or if you want to experience Technical Diving or his absolute favorite, Rebreathers. He is highly sought after as an instructor for his reputation of safety, integrity and knowledge. You won’t find anyone with as much training and expertise in South America.

In his spare time, he enjoys using strange materials to create and build things around the dive center to make life easier. He is crazy about caves and I have seen him jump into the most stagnant of water in his clothes because there was limestone in the area and he was sure there would be a great cave to explore.

The dive center was born out of Jorge’s passion. His passion is infectious and inspiring. Plan ahead as several times a year, Jorge is off supporting a film production or expedition, attending a conference as a key-note speaker, going to trade shows to keep up on the latest technology, or solo exploring caves throughout Ecuador for diving potential.

He is a well-known professional worldwide. In short? He knows what he is doing. Some highlights from his qualifications are listed for those that like data.

Jessica Pfeltz Mahauad

PADI Scuba CoursesJessica Pfeltz Mahauad, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer – Jessica started scuba diving in 1994 and over the years developed a passion that turned into a career. In 2004, she left her Finance job to travel the world and hasn’t looked back since.

She received her instructor rating in 2006 and is currently a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. She has over 2,000 dives under her belt in some pretty amazing places all over the world. While the large sharks and pelagics of the Galapagos Islands impress her, Jessica is also a macro aficionado and would be happy to help you find the smallest of creatures if you share her passion.

Jessica is happiest to be swimming alongside the sea lions of the Galapagos and still gets excited every time like it was the first. She grew up in the Washington DC area but has called Bermuda, Honduras, Thailand and Ecuador home, to name a few.

With a passion for traveling, she can give you advice or travel stories from around the world. Her favorite places to dive outside of the Galapagos Islands include the Similan Islands, Ras Mohammed in the Red Sea, and Fiji. Her favorite part about teaching people to dive is watching their faces when they fall in love with it. “When you see it. When you see that you have changed someone’s life forever, and you know they can never be the same, that is my favorite part. It gets me every time.”
